Capulhuac Mayor Accused of Assaulting Municipal Employee

A psychologist from the DIF of Capulhuac, Miriam, has publicly reported being physically, verbally, and sexually assaulted by Selenne Hernández Herrera, the mayor of the municipality. These events occurred on May 2nd within the DIF facilities, where the psychologist sustained facial injuries.

The victim's father indicated that the assault took place due to rumors about alleged romances of Miriam with a relative of the mayor. Selenne Hernández Herrera took office on January 1st of this year and since then has faced divisions both in the council and with officials of the ruling alliance, who have criticized her arbitrary decisions and unjustified expenses.

Despite the serious accusation, neither the city council nor the mayor has responded to the psychologist's public complaint, nor to the protests demanding Hernández Herrera's resignation. Reginaldo Sandoval Flores, the National Political Commissioner of the PT in the state, has condemned the actions of the mayor, labeling them as abuse of authority and even torture, for involving state agents in the alleged attack.

The PT in the State of Mexico has emphatically rejected the acts of violence against the employee of the DIF of Capulhuac. Sandoval has urged the competent authorities to conduct a thorough and objective investigation, without revictimizing the affected party, and has requested that Selenne Hernández and other indicated authorities be provisionally suspended to ensure a fair process.
